Each holiday season at EDiS comes with a tradition we look forward to all year: a poinsettia for every employee, grown with care by the incredible young people at Bright Spot Farms, a program of West End Neighborhood House.
Bright Spot brings Wilmington youth into the greenhouse to learn far more than horticulture. They’re gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, from cultivating plants to managing sales, planning inventory, and running a small business. Their annual poinsettia sale helps fund these opportunities and empowers participants to build confidence, skills, and brighter futures.
“Bright Spot Ventures is an incredible program that not only teaches kids valuable skills but also gives them real ownership and confidence,” said EDiS Owner & Executive Vice President Andrew DiSabatino III. “Serving on the West End Board has shown me the amazing programs being run in our community – seeing the impact on these young entrepreneurs year after year is truly inspiring.”
Today our offices are filled with vibrant poinsettias, but even more than that, they’re filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the youth who pour their hard work into each plant, for the mentors guiding them, and for the partnership that helps our community grow stronger every season.
