EDiS Recognized as a Warrior-Friendly Business

veterans warrior friendly business award

EDiS is honored to have received the Warrior-Friendly Business Award from The Joint Military Affairs Committee in recognition of our commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and military families throughout Delaware.

We extend our sincere thanks to General Francis Vavala, a retired Army National Guard officer who served as the Adjutant General of the State of Delaware from 1999-2017, for nominating EDiS for this meaningful recognition. His leadership and long-standing advocacy for Delaware’s military community make this acknowledgment especially significant to our team.

Supporting those who serve has long been part of EDiS’ culture and values. We recognize the experience, discipline, leadership, and perspective that veterans bring to the workforce, and we remain committed to creating opportunities that support successful transitions into civilian careers. This commitment is reflected not only in our hiring practices, but also in the way we invest leadership time, mentorship, and resources into workforce development initiatives that benefit veterans and military families.

At the leadership level, this dedication is deeply personal. My connection to military service, including my son Jacob DiSabatino’s active-duty role as a U.S. Army officer, helped inspire the creation of VetFest and the 22in22 initiative. What began as an idea has grown into a statewide movement uniting businesses, community partners, and participants to raise awareness and critical funding for veteran support organizations.

Recently celebrating its 10th anniversary, VetFest has raised more than $1 million to support veterans, service members, and their families. Beyond fundraising, VetFest also serves as a platform to amplify conversations around veteran support, mental health awareness, and the importance of investing in those who have served. EDiS employees proudly contribute their time and volunteer efforts each year to support the VetFest run, walk, and ruck, reinforcing the collective spirit behind the event.

Within EDiS, veteran leadership continues to play an important role in shaping our organization. Chris McCone, President of EDiS and a U.S. military veteran, represents the values of mentorship, professional growth, and long-term career development that define our approach. Across the company, we are proud to employ many other individuals with military backgrounds.

Our support for veterans also extends into workforce readiness and education. Through advocacy and support for Delaware Technical Community College, vocational-technical schools, and the Delaware Skills Center, EDiS helps strengthen pathways into stable, long-term careers — opportunities that benefit veterans, military families, and the broader Delaware workforce.

This recognition as a Warrior-Friendly Business reflects something fundamental to who we are as a company. At EDiS, we believe companies don’t build buildings — people do — and we remain committed to supporting the individuals, families, and communities that strengthen our workforce and our state.
