EDiS Company Breaks Ground on Crystal Run Elementary School

November 18, 2021 • 3 MIN READ

On Monday, November 15, staff and volunteers, state officials, and project partners gathered with the Appoquinimink School District (ASD) team off Summit Bridge Road in Middletown, DE for the groundbreaking of their newest education facility, Crystal Run Elementary School. Crystal Run Elementary School is only the beginning of the district’s future plans for another K-12 campus, the 142-acre Summit Campus. The campus will include an early childhood center, middle school, and high school. Having just completed Silver Lake Elementary School and the Fairview Campus, the EDiS Company team is well prepared to continue their partnership with Delaware’s fastest growing school district.

The design of the 87,000 square foot, energy efficient school was influenced by ASD’s Lorewood Grove Elementary School, also built by EDiS Company and opened in 2019. Crystal Run Elementary School features a two-story plan with 35 classrooms, a STEM room, library media center, combination gym/cafeteria, playground, collaborative spaces for instruction, and a shared central green space for outdoor learning. The school and its future counterparts will help accommodate the rapidly growing student population in Delaware. The EDiS Company team looks forward to bringing ASD’s vision for the future of learning to life. Keep an eye out for the school’s grand opening in fall 2023!
