Building

new schools in Pennsylvania.

Pope John Paul II High School (PJP2) is nestled in the countryside of Royersford, PA, a town that saw dramatic growth back in 2008. Located just off Route 422 and Township Line Road, the school is situated on 92 acres of prime property that used to be a sod farm. It was the first new school built in ten years for the Archdiocese. Constructing this school within the cost, time, and quality constraints set by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was a challenge EDiS Company was eager to take on.

"Over the years, I have dealt with thousands of contractors, but I can honestly state that EDiS Company is one of the most professional and capable firms I have had the pleasure to work with."

advanced technology.

The level of technology that has been provided at PJP2 HS exceeds many other schools, in both the private and public sectors. This technology includes mobile laptop carts for the classrooms, individual teacher’s laptops, a library/media resource center, LCD projectors with interactive Smart Boards and television broadcasting capabilities, selected channel digital cable TV feeds to all classrooms, video bulletin-board broadcasting to all classrooms and in the entrance lobbies, two dedicated distance learning classrooms, video conferencing capabilities in all classrooms and conference rooms, and a state-of-the-art security system. Students were given electronic books, not the usual hardback test books. The building technology systems are fully integrated.

stable foundations.

In total, over 37,186 cubic yds of bulk rock and 1,438 linear ft of trench rock were removed.  Not only was the building footprint virtually bulked out prior to the start of foundation construction, but also some of the storm basins, playing fields, and utility runs had to be blasted and trenched to allow construction to be completed in those areas.  Careful planning, proper permits and notifications, including notifying the authorities and surrounding neighborhoods, were required to ensure the timely, successful rock removal operation for this project.
