EDiS Company was hired to construct a new parking garage for the Riverfront Development Corporation. The design of this 3-story “Frank Furness” era garage gives visitors to Wilmington’s Amtrak Station a view of the slate-roofed pyramidal towers to the garage stairs and elevator. Support columns at 22-foot intervals are topped with cast stone spheres linked by Lyre-patterned aluminum balustrades. In addition, code-dictated ventilation openings have water-jet aluminum grills depicting the City of Wilmington seal. The parking deck utilizes a post-tensioned reinforcing system and holds up to 425 vehicles.
