EDiS Company renovated 9,277 SF of expansion space on the first floor of Richards, Layton & Finger’s Wilmington, Delaware office. Richards, Layton & Finger added a conference center which included the construction of a large multipurpose and divisible room to be used for board meetings and firm functions, several small meeting rooms, and a café and reception area. The multipurpose room that was created utilizes state-of-the-art audiovisual technology. In addition, EDiS modified offices within the firm’s existing, adjacent space and added custom finishes at the elevator lobby.

through the challenges.
During construction, EDiS encountered an issue with the walls to be demolished for the renovation. The FBI formerly used the office space that was being renovated as part of this project. Behind the drywall, the walls were lined with a ballistic wire mesh that was welded to the studs. The construction team needed to remove the mesh portion as a separate task of the demolition and still find a way to not impact the firm’s tight schedule for completion. EDiS used careful and meticulous measures to grind out the welds. If this process was not handled properly, it could have affected the cost and the schedule of the project. Due to the careful precision and innovation that the project team utilized, the project was able to stay on track without an issue.
