Building

a new and improved surgical center.

Seeking repairs and a fresh look after more than a decade of patient care, the Orthopaedic Specialists Surgi-Center located in Newark, Delaware contacted EDiS Company to have renovations done within one week. The surgical center could only be shut down for one week as an essential healthcare facility for surgeries in Northern Delaware.

Building

with safety as the priority.

Before any work could be completed, the safety of the project team, the staff, and all workers on the site needed to be ensured. Infectious control systems were implemented to keep the area safe, including: masking all the air vents and openings to the room during construction; isolating the work area in the corridor from the remaining space; and installing a negative air system with high-efficiency particulate air filtration. Terminal cleaning was then carried out post construction. These measures protected against COVID-19 and other potential contaminants, and ensured the area stay sealed and sterile in preparation for the return of staff.

"Orthopaedic Specialists Surgi-Center sends our appreciation to EDiS for a job well done. Our newly renovated surgery center underwent a list of repairs and improvements and EDiS was great to work with through the entire process. As an essential healthcare facility, timing and safety were crucial. EDiS and all of their subcontractors were professional and completed the project within our timeframe. They also went above and beyond to adhere to our high safety and infection control parameters, making it easy to welcome back staff and patients to our new space."

the EDiS way.

The newly renovated area underwent several repairs and improvements. Chief among them was the repair of a six-foot crack in the foundation which was clearly visible. New vinyl flooring was installed to match the old flooring. One operating room received entirely new flooring while both received new paint and finishes. Both operating room doors were adjusted to the new flooring to keep each room properly sealed. Based on past healthcare construction experience, the EDiS team knew to use pre-catalyzed epoxy paint recommended specifically for operating rooms. 40 linear feet of wall protection with matching corner guards and trim in both operating rooms were installed with all joints sealed to prevent equipment scratching the walls. The main operating room received surface-mounted copper tape tied into the existing building grounding system for anti-static flooring, a state-of-the-art technique that prevents any kind of electrical disturbance from negatively affecting medical equipment and systems. The project finished within the client’s time frame, ensuring minimal interruptions for their staff and patients.
