WHAT’S HAPPENING?

EDiS is launching their 4th annual Essay Competition for Stepping Stone scholarships for Delaware Vocational–Technical High School students interested in a career in design, engineering, and construction. This essay competition highlights Black Excellence in Design and Construction for Black History Month.

AWARD LEVELS:

1st Place: $700
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $300

Thursday, February 29th, 2024

Essay Topics to Kick start Your Imagination: (or pitch your own idea!)

Innovations in Construction:
How has a Black innovator in construction or their invention or techniques have shaped the industry or influenced you?

Barrier Breakers:
Profile a Black architect, building engineer, or contractor who broke racial barriers

Modern Contributions:
Explore contemporary Black figures in design and construction and their impact on modern building techniques or styles.

Cultural Influence:
Discuss how Black cultures have influenced architectural styles or construction methods.

Community Development:
Explore how Black-led construction projects have positively impacted communities.

Winning Essays will also be published on EDiS Company’s blog. Scholarships will be awarded in March.
