On September 24, Hodgson Vo-Tech celebrated a ribbon cutting for a space that means much more than its four walls.
Sean’s Room, created in partnership with SL24: UnLocke the Light, brings the mission of Sean’s House directly into the school setting—creating a welcoming, supportive space where students can step away, connect with others, access resources, and know they don’t have to face difficult moments alone.
The SL24: UnLocke the Light Foundation was created in memory of Sean Locke and works to support young people on their mental health journeys while helping break down the stigma around asking for help. Sean’s House, with locations in Newark and Lewes, offers young adults a safe place for peer support, connection, and mental health resources—all at no cost. Sean’s Rooms extend that same mission into local high schools, making support even more accessible to students where they spend their days.
Hodgson’s Sean’s Room is now the fifth Sean’s Room in Northern Delaware, joining spaces established at other area high schools and helping expand a growing network of support for students throughout the region. All of the support and resources offered through Sean’s House and Sean’s Rooms are free.
Making Hodgson’s Sean’s Room a reality was truly a team effort. Throughout construction of the new school, our Hodgson team worked closely with the district, SL24, and project partners to create this special space. We are incredibly grateful to the contractors and trade partners who donated their time, labor, and materials to help bring the room to life.
And a special thank you to our EDiS Hodgson team, whose care, coordination, and commitment helped make this possible for Hodgson’s students. This is the kind of space that reminds us that what we build can have an impact far beyond the building itself.
We’re proud to have played a part in bringing Sean’s Room to Hodgson and helping create a place where students know there is always someone in their corner.
