Remembering Our post 9/11 Fallen Exhibit at Whitehall (Sep 27 – Oct 2)
As part of Vet Fest 2019, we are hosting a major exhibit at Whitehall from September 27 to October 2. At 6:00 pm on the 27th, we will have a “Welcome to Delaware” ceremony for all those who have died as a result of the September 11th attacks. This includes victims of PTSD. I flew to Chicago to view this memorial and it is both stunning and stirring. Vet Fest 2019 is held on the next day.
On the September 27th, there will be a short ceremony that will be led by Mrs. Noala Fritz. Her son, Jacob Fritz, is honored on the memorial. He was a regular kid from Nebraska who became an Army officer after college. As an officer, he was targeted and taken prisoner in Iraq, blindfolded, and ultimately executed. Noala has come to know many of the 5,200 stories on display, including that of football great Pat Tillman. She represents these families well. I have personally come to know the 20 Delaware stories on my journey through this memorial and many of their families will be with us that night introducing us to their fallen children. They were beautiful kids.
This is a not-to-miss memorial. It is especially important to bring our families, passing along the virtue of civic service to the next generation, and in demonstrating that our military families need our support long after their loved ones have passed.
