BIM Director Chris Donahue Receives Professional Certification
BIM/VDC Director Chris Donahue received his CM-BIM Certification after completing the four Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) BIM Education Program courses in early November. The CM-BIM stands for Certificate of Management – Building Information Modeling. It is an assessment-based certificate hosted by the AGC to better train BIM technicians on knowledge of concepts related to BIM adoption, practice, and process transformation.
BIM itself is a rapidly growing practice that requires a new mindset and technological know-how in order to improve coordinating construction-efficiency and cost control. BIM is the system spanning the management of the physical and functional information of a building project using 3D scanning technology. CM-BIM certifications are also gaining traction as a result. Soon, architectural firms, engineering companies, and general contractors will need at least one person on their staff to be CM-BIM certified to work on federal projects and even state jobs.
EDiS has grown ahead of the trend thanks to Chris’ success. In three years he’ll need to retake the course exams to prove his technical talent. EDiS will continue to expand its knowledge as well in order to stay on top of the latest and greatest in construction technology.
