Director of Marketing Strategy and Business Development

EDiS’ Director of Marketing Strategy and Business Development is a key member of EDiS’ Executive Management Team. This position is responsible for championing EDiS’ business development strategy and developing business relationships to solicit prospective and existing clients to promote EDiS’ construction services. This position will help craft business strategy, is the company’s “door opener” to new clients and potential projects, and is responsible for generating, qualifying, and managing targeted communication relating to sales opportunities.

The Director of Marketing Strategy and Business Development owns the management of the sales funnel, and is responsible for converting leads into projects by stewarding them through the business development process. This position will spend significant time researching potential new clients and business opportunities, qualifying leads, and converting those leads independently or passing those leads on to members of the EDiS leadership team while continuing to track them and assisting with targeted outreach and follow up.

The Director of Marketing Strategy and Business Development reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring marketing team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participate in developing, administering, and achieving EDiS’ Strategic Plan, organizational goals, and company policies.
  2. Coordinate functions and operations across departments to ensure activities align with strategic goals and meet internal and external customers’ expectations.
  3. Develop, implement, create buy-in, and measure the success of an annual marketing plan that champions EDiS’ business development efforts.
  4. Lead the RFP process and team workflow to formulate and submit successful proposals and prepare successful presentations on deadline.
  5. Collaborate with department and executives to evaluate the success of proposal and presentation outcomes to recommend improvements for continued success.
  6. Direct marketing support through multiple mediums, aligning messaging with what EDiS is doing in business development and relationship building.
  7. Lead EDiS’ public relations efforts and external communication.
  8. Organize and lead corporate special events.
  9. Be involved in client and professional service provider networks as necessary to lead Manager of Business Development.
  10. Train and ensure assigned employees are aware of and comply with company policies and procedures.
  11. Assist Human Resources with staffing and hiring by monitoring workload and manpower needs and participating in interview process, making hiring recommendations.
  12. Effectively manage subordinate team members’ activities, providing regular feedback, developing their skills, and encouraging growth.

Qualifications/Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  4. Knowledge of market and competition
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  6. Familiar with company CRM system
  7. Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information one-on-one and speak in front of groups.
  8. Exceptional written communication skills – technical writing a plus

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing or Business
  2. 10+ years experience. Knowledge of construction or design industry a plus
