Specifics:

EDiS was hired to provide pre-construction services and be the construction managers of the Dover Public Library. The building is pursuing LEED Silver certification. The green roof of the building is an example of one of the many sustainable aspects of the job. The roof will reduce site water run-off with living plant materials that provides a connection to the flora and fauna. Other sustainable elements include geothermal/ice storage system, day lighting with light monitors, natural ventilation, and grey water systems.

Architecturally the building is a testament to the City of Dover's history and tradition. The building incorporates the same proportion, materials and roof profiles that reference nearby historic structures and respond to the historic review commission. The chimneys and dormers have been transformed into light monitors and ventilation shafts. Double-hung windows are designed with proportions and spacing that further enhances the connection to Georgian elements of neighboring structures.
