EDIS

Construction Services

All of us at EDiS are focused upon creating an excellent construction experience for our clients.

We believe that this is why our repeat business ratio continues to exceed 90%.

Our focus on service, safety and quality alleviates the stress normally attributed to the construction process.

Pre-Construction

Delivering a project on budget and on schedule requires competent attention BEFORE and during the construction phase.

Pre-construction scheduling, estimating, constructability reviews and value engineering are all critical to a successful project. That is why EDiS has developed COMPASS to fully integrate the project goals into the project planning.

COMPASS

At EDiS, we take a very systematic approach to our Construction Project Controls. We call our system COMPASS. COMPASS has been designed to plan the process in advance, establish goals specific to the client, record those goals and progress, and constantly measure success.

Planning

We begin the COMPASS process with an interactive workshop that we call the COMPASS Planning Session. At the COMPASS Planning Session, all of the stakeholders are invited to express their objectives, concerns, creative ideas, and vision of success. Depending upon the complexity of the project and the number of stakeholders, the COMPASS Planning Session can last one hour or one day.

Goal Setting

The goals established in the COMPASS Planning Session are taken seriously. They become the criteria upon which we will navigate the project through the challenges of budget, schedule, quality, procurement, risk management, etc… The goals and data that are collected at the COMPASS Planning Session are recorded and updated in a binder…the Atlas. Every stakeholder is given an Atlas to refer to as the project progresses and to hold important project information.

Measuring Success

During the COMPASS Planning Session, the team establishes the criteria upon which the success of the project will be measured. All aspects, including communication, quality, cost, schedule and safety, will be reviewed. When the project is fifty percent complete, an independent team of EDiS executives will audit the project using the criteria established at the planning session to evaluate if the goals are being achieved. At the completion of the project, a different team will use the same criteria to conduct a final evaluation session with the customer. Over the past thirty years this system has allowed us to accumulate a vast understanding of project risks to how to proactively address them.

"Winterthur and EDiS have worked together for decades. Due to this experience, EDiS has developed a keen appreciation for performing complicated construction projects within the historically sensitive buildings and grounds of Winterthur. EDiS has been there for us in emergency situations as well, being able to concentrate expertise on-site very quickly. I have particularly enjoyed maintaining a relationship with EDiS staff.....the people who I started working with years ago are still today only a phone call away."

John W. Castle, P.E.
Director, Facilities Services Department
Winterthur, An American Country Estate

"Instead of handling our requirements as obstacles, we felt that EDiS was part of our team, working with us to make us ready for our opportunities. Our points of contact for the project were customer-oriented, flexible, and always willing to go the extra mile."

"It is not often that we see such safety conscious employees throughout an entire organization. The employees have made safety more than just a priority; they have made it a value, something that unlike priorities, rarely changes. To recognize this is one thing; to live it is another!

You continuously display your company's safety and health culture for all to see and follow. Your employees are proud to be a part of such a culture, and it shows."
