The school located in Frankford, DE was the former Indian River High School until a new high school was completed in 2005. Since that time, the Indian River School District has used the building as a swing space for students from other schools scheduled for renovations. This approach to a multiple project master plan has allowed for renovation to occur in schools without them being occupied. The renovation consists of a new geothermal mechanical system, electrical upgrade, fire suppression and alarm system, computer wiring and a new clock system. The architectural upgrades include new ceiling systems, flooring, drywall partitions, painting, ADA upgrades, two new stair towers and an elevator. The exterior façade is also receiving improvements. Exterior improvements consist of replacement of lintels over select windows, caulking of joints, painting and re-pointing of masonry. The renovations and additions to the newly named John M. Clayton Elementary School began in June 2009. This renovation represents our seventh project with the Indian River School District in the past ten years. Final completion is scheduled for the opening of school in September 2010. These upgrades are very similar in scope to the renovations and additions to other schools within the district and represent the dedication to students by the Indian River Board of Education.
